What is land reclamation in oil & gas?
Land reclamation in oil & gas is the process by which oil & gas companies revert the land used for production back to its natural state. The land is to be restored to a functional equivalent of what it was before development took place.
When does land reclamation take place?
After an energy project has been shut in and abandoned, land reclamation work can begin. Companies are legally required by the AER to return lands to a functional equivalent state that they were before development.
